Injury Update: Pastrana Hopes to Start Rehab Soon
Bob Pockrass caught up with Travis in his recent article on SceneDaily.com. Here's a quick except:
The X-games star and action sports icon known for his motorcycle stunts ? make that for his former motorcycle tricks ? will begin his focus on NASCAR once he can walk, if not before. He had the pins removed Monday and is hopes to begin rehab soon.
Pastrana, who has not yet been approved by NASCAR to run the 2012 season-opener at Daytona, plans to run a partial Nationwide Series schedule next year starting with the March race at Phoenix International Raceway. The co-owner of Pastrana Waltrip Racing has said he hopes to compete in about 20 Nationwide races next year. He also could see time in the K&N Pro Series as well as Rally, which he currently competes in select events.
"The goal is definitely the same ? to race as much as possible,? Pastrana said. ?We'll just have to work out sponsorship for after the first couple and hopefully those races will go well and we'll be able to race more than 20. ? I haven't really had anything finalized yet, but my goal is just to get in as many cars as possible."
